Diocese Calendar Contest 2012/13

Each year the Diocese holds a contest to choose pictures for the annual calendar. Mrs. Patti Gessler encourages all students to participate through art class. This year the theme was to illustrate the Parables of Jesus. There were more than 200 pieces of art entered and sent to the diocese. The finalists are displayed and voted on by Diocesan staff and Chancery visitors. The top 13 are included in the calendar. (12 months and 1 cover) This year, 4 students from St. Francis have their artwork included in the calendar. They are: Andreou Goetsch (cover), Makyah Goetsch, Rachel Rell and Autumn Schenzel (not pictured).

 


 

 

Patriot's Pen Essay Contest - 2012/13

Patriot's Pen Essay Contest is sponsored by the VFW for 6th, 7th & 8th grade students. This competition gives students an opportunity to express their views on democracy. The students submitted an essay based on this years theme of "What I Would Tell America's Founding Fathers." Essays are judged on how well they understand, develop and present the theme. Congratulations to Brett & Trey Seubert, Zach Mootz and Andreou Goetsch!

 

 


 

February 2012

Pictured with Bishop Peter Christensen are students from St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Aidan Ball and Elizabeth Weix. Aidan and Elizabeth were finalists in an essay writing contest sponsored by the Respect Life office of the Diocese of Superior. The essay had a theme of "I came that all might have lifeand have it to the fullest". Students were required to write a 350 word essay about the theme as it pertains to respecting life and what that means.

Patriot's Pen Essay Contest - 2011/12

Pictured here are the winners of this year's Patriot's Pen Essay contest. Middle school students were asked "Why Do I Love My Country?" The contest was sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the fall. Recently, they had a reception to honor the winners of the contest. There were 141 entries and a total of 9 winners, of which 4 were St. Francis Xavier students.
